Samantha Michelle is a Toronto-born, London-bred, world-traveling DJ & award-winning filmmaker.
After graduating from New York University & Oxford University in 2011, Samantha moved overseas and began her career in the arts acting in film & theatre.
Her long-time love of music alchemized one fateful night at London’s famed Groucho Club, where she first hopped on the decks. This moment sparked a new creative direction as Samantha quickly gained momentum, DJ’g at London’s exclusive members’ clubs, hosting a music history radio show, and performing at festivals in the UK like Glastonbury & The Secret Garden Party.
In 2018, she moved back stateside, sharpening focus and spinning for luxury fashion brands, arts and major media clients. She became resident DJ for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Wall Street Journal, Christie’s & Morrison Hotel Gallery and accrued a list of blue-chip clients including Bvlgari, Versace, Christian Louboutin, Saks Fifth Avenue, Carolina Herrera, Viacom, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Rolling Stone, Audible and Meta.
She’s become a permanent fixture at profile events such as NYFW, SXSW, Cannes Lions, Cannes Film Festival, TIFF, and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She’s headlined entertainment industry events like the Canadian Consulate’s Oscars party in LA, the Cinetic Media party at Sundance, and the CAA Tony Awards party in NYC. In the nightlife space, she’s performed at some of the world’s most iconic hotspots from Plaza Athénée in Paris to the KitKatClub in Berlin.
Her sound has long journeyed from its roots in 1960s & 70s funk, soul and rock & roll. She now serves a fresh blend of disco house, afrobeats, world and tribal sounds, harmonizing genres and bridging the foreign and the familiar with feel-good, deep-cut remixes. Her dedication to her craft and commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences has solidified her position as a rising star as her warm, infectious enthusiasm inspires audiences around the world.
Passionate about female empowerment and elevating women in music, Samantha produces her own femme-forward nightlife experiences curating all-female DJ lineups, and mentoring emerging talent, in partnership with Soho House worldwide.
She regularly teams up with charitable organizations such as Artists for Peace & Justice and Generation SOS, leveraging her platform and leadership in support of youth causes.
Samantha has also written and directed two short films, and is currently in the works of developing a number of projects including a scripted television series, an illustrated children’s book and a feature documentary on British fashion icon, the late, great, Terry de Havilland, shoe designer to the glam rock gods.
Having cultivated longstanding creative relationships with leading brands, Samantha brings a prismatic approach to her projects, performances and storytelling. A provocateur at heart, she pushes creative boundaries, embracing the exotic, whilst always spreading positivity and inclusivity.
